Jelly Roll Race Quilt by Marilla for Sew Classic Fabrics-2.jpg

My Passion

I come from a long line of women who have made life more beautiful by creating with textiles and fibers, making delicious meals, growing beautiful flowers and nourishing vegetables, and gathering people around the table. The men in my ancestry and current family create beauty with wood and metal, and sustain life by farming. Because of my heritage, I am passionate about artisan-made, heirloom quality goods, healthy, nourishing food, creating comfort and function and beauty within the home, and showing hospitality.

My Creative Journey

I learned to sew and crochet in childhood. I made my own clothing in my teens. While in college and beginning my career, I did less sewing, but expressed my creativity through decorating my home and office, by inviting friends over to gather at my table to enjoy homemade bread and soup.

Soon after I began my career as a certified public accountant, I learned to knit, and I also made my first quilt. But it wasn’t until after my first daughter was born, that I started sewing more. I needed that creative outlet! I needed to complete something that wouldn’t be undone in a few minutes.

I love designing and creating items that are both beautiful and practical.

My goal of this blog is to share with you my creative journey as I sew, knit, crochet, garden, cook, and try to live a more beautiful life. Make a cup of tea, pull up a chair, and join in my journey while you read.
