Collections and Candles and Mason Jars

This was going to be a longer post; however, I accidentally deleted all that I had written and saved the changes before realizing what had happened. So, instead of telling you the background of what inspired me to make these candle jars—I will just show you the pictures and hope that it will give you some ideas for displaying collections of items like pretty rocks or sea shells or sea glass or using them in other ways as I suggest below.

I didn’t photograph these ideas to share with you today; however, these jar candle holders would work great as decor for a dinner party, birthday party, baby shower, bridal shower, or wedding—they could be filled with a cut fresh flower or tiny bouquet of fresh flowers or dried flowers. At a baby shower, they could be used to put small items in—small stuffed animals— or baby items to give to the mom or baby, such as, pacifiers and rattles, or even some rolled washcloths. At a kid’s birthday party, they could hold a couple of colorful crayons or small toys…the possibilities are endless. Of course, these ideas may not be put into place until events like this start happening more frequently again in the future…

Here is what I did with my Mason jar candle holders. I placed rocks and sea shells in them and placed them in the narrow space between the tub and tile in the master bathroom.

Displaying a collection of items and making this candle holder is quick and easy!

Materials needed:

  • Items you wish to display—shells, dried flowers, pretty rocks

  • Mason jars - regular mouth

  • Flower pot votive candle holders (Link to Purchase)

  • Tealight or votive candles

Simply fill your jar with items to display. Place the candle holders in the jar and place a candle in the holder and set in a place that you can safely burn candles. If you purchase this set of 12 candle holders as shown here, make some jars to give to friends as a gift of encouragement.
